Join the fabulous world of board sports with this introductory kitesurfing session in the Pyrénées-Orientales. Whether you are passing through the region on vacation or living there all year round, your kitesurfing school in Leucate is open all year round for you to experience great adventures on the water!
You will find it on the edge of the Mediterranean Sea, just twenty minutes by car from Perpignan. You can follow a kitesurfing discovery session with a state qualified instructor, who will teach you the basics of the practice both to make you aware of the safety rules and for you help to quickly master the discipline.
It will in fact involve standing with your legs bent on a board and surfing on the water with the help of the wind. To do this, you will hold a sail in your hands that you will use like a kite, namely a kite.
We will accompany you by boat to the island of Rascasse on the Leucate pond, where conditions are ideal for kitesurfing! Beyond immersing yourself in a rejuvenating natural setting, it is also a lake where you will have a foothold anywhere and where the wind plays in the kitesurfer's favor...
The equipment that will be provided to you will include a safety helmet equipped with a radio to allow you to stay in communication from the lake with your instructor. During these three hours of initiation, you will start by training on a waterstartand it will teach you, for example, how to relaunch the sail or go upwind .
Good to know: We will ask you to present civil liability to participate in the course.

- Boat shuttle to and from Rascasse Island.

This course of three 3-hour sessions will be the best way to take the time to discover, introduce yourself and quickly improve your kitesurfing. If one day of training is generally enough to become comfortable, here you will have access to complete training in order to gain in technique and autonomy.
On a practical level, you will be accompanied by a state qualified instructor who will give you personalized exercises during the sessions and will be able to constantly communicate with you via a headset with radio. These will take place on the Leucate pond where you will be taken by boat. Equipped with the kitesurfing equipment that will be provided to you by the school, you will then assist in the preparation of the kite and the safety instructions.
Learning to kitesurf will begin with teaching the basics without the board, such as static and dynamic wing control, its one-handed control, take off again or find the right position to move it forward.
Once you have mastered the techniques to stabilize your kite, you will then move on to towed swimming. This step will be particularly important for managing the towing power of the wing and knowing how to deal with different situations at sea.
And then it will be time to start training on the water with a waterstart! Discover the sensations of gliding and freedom, put into practice what you have learned and gradually gain confidence before making your first kitesurfing attempts.
