Description of Château de Voltaire

Did you know that the famous philosopher of the Enlightenment, Voltaire did not live the majority of his life in Paris, but rather in Ain, in a castle very close to the border Swiss?

Welcome to the Château de Voltaire, an architectural gem located in Ferney-Voltaire, a stone's throw from Geneva.
This is the place where François-Marie Arouet, better known under the name of Voltaire, spent more than 20 years of his life. During which he wrote numerous books and worked on his speeches.

The main driveway of the castle will seduce you with its elegance, just like the rest of the property. Everything testifies to French chic, from the architecture of the castle to the alignment of the gardens .

Inside, rooms richly decorated with furniture from the 18th century, paintings strong> and sculptures. Everything has been restored to keep as much of the authenticity of the place and its charm as possible. You therefore discover the castle almost as Voltaire knew it.

We particularly advise you to spend a moment in the library where you can imagine Voltaire rethinking the >ideas of his time such as justice or freedom.

All you have to do is take a walk in the gardens to complete your discovery of the castle of Voltaire and his magnificent view of the mountains.

We suggest you purchase a ticket skip-line to enjoy the residence in complete peace by Voltaire.
