Why paragliding in Grenoble?

Flights take place from Saint-Hilaire du Touvet, a small mountain resort located about 30 minutes away. The two most important features that favor paragliding in Grenoble are the pleasant climate and the breathtaking mountain scenery.

Flights take place at just over 1,000 meters above sea level, so don't expect to see snow-capped peaks. On the other hand, you will see impressive cliffs, rock formations, valleys, forests, etc.

Our centers offer you these different formulas for your flights, departing from different locations. No flight can take off directly from there, as it requires at least 200 meters of altitude and a difference in altitude to be able to fly. In addition, a landing in the middle of the city would be dangerous. But don't worry, because you will still be flying over this magnificent city.

Either way, it's a great place to try paragliding for the first time, or to try it again if you've done it before!

What flight options are available in the area?

- Discovery package: You can soar through the sky like a bird! With a paragliding adventure, let the wind take you far above the breathtaking landscapes of Grenoble! It is an unforgettable activity that provides intense sensations and breathtaking panoramas! The majestic mountains of the Alps and spectacular landscapes await you.

- Initiation course: The paragliding initiation course consists of the following elements: 3 to 4 mornings of paragliding training with one of our instructors in Grenoble, theoretical courses and a long flight with expert instructors. It allows you to validate the first level of the paragliding training booklet!

- Discovery course: One or more mornings: you will learn to fly a paraglider on the ground on the Saint Ange plateau. This paragliding discovery course is suitable for those who wish to take an introductory course while discovering this sport.

- Paraglide baptism for children: accompanied by professional instructors, your children will experience the fun thrills of a paragliding flight over the landscapes of the Rhône-Alpes region. The take-off point is located at the foot of the Vercors, on the St Ange plateau, bordering the town of Varces, Allières and Risset. These paragliding flights are reserved for children from 5 to 12 years old. There are several different formulas. If you like this activity, consider doing it with one of our centers!

When is the best time to fly?

The optimal seasons for paragliding in Grenoble are spring and summer, with spring being the preferred season for aerology (thermals).

However, for beginners to experience a decent quality of flight, mornings and evenings are the best times to fly, especially for those taking introductory courses.

The weather is calmer during these periods, allowing them to practice takeoffs and landings in peace. On the other hand, experienced pilots will be able to unfurl their sails at any time, while keeping an eye on the weather. Checking the weather before flying is always a good idea!

What are the requirements for paragliding in Grenoble?

+ You must be at least five years old, with no maximum age limit!

+ You must weigh a maximum of 14 stone [90 kg] (some instructors allow up to 19 stone [120 kg]).

+ The flight is subject to weather conditions and is not available all year round depending on the strength of the wind.

+ People with reduced mobility can also fly!

+ No medical certificate is required for a tandem flight, and you don't need to be in any particular physical condition.

+ Appropriate clothing (sport shoes, comfortable clothes) is recommended to enjoy the ride.
