Where to paraglide in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc?

• Planpraz-Brévent: Considered one of the most beautiful paragliding spots in Europe, you will fly in a breathtaking setting overlooking Mont Blanc and the Aiguille du Midi, which rises to more than 3,842 meters above sea level. Plus, it's located right next to the city center - perfect!

• Chamonix: Directly from the commune itself, you will soar into the skies, at over 4,000 meters above sea level. A breathtaking flight, whether in winter or summer. You will observe the alpine landscapes that will leave you starry-eyed in the heart of the Chamonix valley. You will glide like a bird between the highest peaks of Europe: the Mont-Blanc and the Aiguille du Midi.

• Les Houches: This ski resort is located a quarter of an hour from Chamonix. From here, you will find the same landscapes of the French Alps from another point of view. Under your paragliding veil, you can catch a glimpse of the Gorges de la Diosaz, a famous waterfall between Passy and Saint-Gervais-les-Bains.

• Vallorcine: A commune located only 10 miles (16 km), which gives you the chance to experience a breathtaking flight in a magical setting. Just below you, you will be able to observe the Emosson lake, while in the distance you will see the Aiguille du Chardonnet. The summit of the Mont Blanc massif, rising 3,824 meters above the skies, is a magical moment less than a mile away from the Swiss border!

- If you are a beginner and want to discover the pleasure of a tandem flight, the discovery flight will be perfect for you. With an average duration of 20 minutes, you will be accompanied by your pilot who will show you the most amazing high mountain landscapes in Haute-Savoie.

- If you are looking for even more intense feelings, you can try an introductory flight. After take-off, your pilot will let you take the controls of the paraglider, giving you the real feeling of flying like a bird. When is it possible to paraglide in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc?

It is possible all year round. The most important thing is to check the weather before the flight. In fact, even in the winter, with the snowy Alps, you can do a paragliding baptism or an initiation. However, equipment varies according to the season.

What should you wear for a flight baptism?

In the winter, the temperature in Haute-Savoie can turn negative. In addition, these high-altitude temperatures can easily become colder due to the wind, so it is strongly recommended to wear windproof clothing to make the most of this flying experience! A hat and a scarf well fastened will be very useful! If you opt for a formula during the snow and you must glide to gain momentum and take off, especially in Les Houches, don’t forget to bring skis or a snowboard for this. If you take off from Aiguille-du-Midi, you should bring hiking or mountain shoes.

In summer, you can wear shorts, but don't forget to bring sneakers for the landing.

Who can do this activity?

Clubs in the valley offer the opportunity to enjoy this aerial sport from the age of four. For the youngest, the activity takes place in the morning for optimal weather conditions and good wind. In addition, no age limit is required, unlike the weight, which cannot exceed 15 stones (100 kg). You don't need to be an athlete to paraglide either, everyone can do it, especially since you will be accompanied by a certified pilot!
